HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

(Yes, I know it has been 6 months. I am hoping to be better, but am not quite ready to make any promises:))

2007- The Rubbles
2008-The Peanuts Gang
2009- Goldilocks and da' three bears
2010...
Your clues:

Last clue....think Disney/Pixar movie...

The cast of Up! We love the movie, and j* was amazed that Daddy actually had a 'wilderness explorer' uniform with badges! Thanks to Joey's graphic skills and a little bit of sewing, it worked out.

Being the house caused me MUCH less anxiety than being Kevin, the large, rainbow-colored bird.

Gotta enjoy the treats!

l* had this look on his face most of the night as he took in all the fun!

Despite the trauma of mom and dad spraying his hair dark, not recognizing himself in the mirror, and many other surprises, Jacob loved the trunk or treat.

a good boy... funny too

So *j has been sharing some gems lately...

A while back ago, *J and *j were in the bathroom (*j often requests that someone accompany him, not really because he needs the help, but because he wants someone to chat with). *j tells his daddy: "just tell mommy it's ok for me to go to school... just tell her to take a deep breath and it's ok for me to go to school." This in response to *T's frequent reminder that *j will go to school for the rest of his life so he doesn't need to be in such a hurry. Result? We found a sweet deal on a killer Quicksilver spring suit and *j goes to swimming lessons once a week in the pool where the 1984 Olympic Water Polo matches were played.

The other day, *J and I were sitting on the couch, watching television, and *j was sitting at the table for lunch. *j announces that he is going to say the prayer and begins to thank his Heavenly Father for a few things. Then he says: "and thank you for the commercial where the guy says "hellllooooo"... that was funny" and then he continues on with the prayer. Classic. It was a reference to a Bush's Beans commercial that he'd seen about 10 minutes prior to the prayer... the one with the talking dog and the guy that gets locked in the pantry.

Another funny prayer story happened just last night. *j says: "thank you for *m (little neighbor girl) not being scared of me anymore." She's actually afraid of *J but *j now thinks she's afraid of him too.

Update: *j still loves saying "tell Buggati when you know"... still don't really know what that means, but now he has set those words to music. Be sure to request it the next time you see him.

On a more serious, but possibly more cute note. The other day on the way to church, we came to an intersection and noticed some police activity across the way. There was a gentleman in a wheelchair, looking like he might be missing a leg, clothes tattered and sitting on the median, probably hoping for some charitable donations. As if that wasn't hard enough, a policeman had pulled over and appeared to be writing him a ticket. *j said "what's that man doing daddy?" *J said "I think he's having a hard time and I don't think he has a house. *j asked why he didn't have a house and *J repeated that he is probably having a hard time in his life. As we made the left turn, *j watched the scene very intently. After passing the policeman and the gentleman in the wheelchair, *j says: "I think we should build that man a house." *J responded: "yes, we should build that man a house." Of course, that would be a great thing to do, but we just continue on. *j then says: "we should go to Home Depot and buy some wood and some paint and a roof and build that man a house." *J, nearly speechless at this point, says: "yes, we should... we'll have to figure out how to do that." *J sat with the boys in Sacrament meeting at church, thinking, 'I gotta figure out how to help this kid act on his good intentions'. Heart of gold that *j.

MUD RUN!

This is what j* said when I woke him up before we left.

Me: Good morning bud, it’s time to get up. Mommy is going to the mud run today.

j*: Are you feeling nervous like? You said you would feel nervous.

Me: No, I am feeling excited.

j*: Tell Daddy that he is supposed to pull you out of the mud if you get stuck. Will you take a shower before you come home?

Me: Okay, I will.

j*: Make sure Daddy stays with you!

Me: Sounds good.

Here are the basics:

- 3.8 mile trail around Irvine Lake

-16 different obstacles including 4 waist high walls, 2 ramps, 1 hay bale pyramid, 2 shallow mud pits where bear crawling is required and 7 pits where you are at least knee high in mud and water!

-5,000 racers

-2 of us having a fantastic time

J and I were able to join a team that was running to benefit a little boy who has lost his sight, “Gavin’s Groupies”. The KROQ dj made a special announcement at the start for his family and our group. We put on our orange (Gavin’s favorite color) and hit the trail. Here is our ‘before’ shot.

As with the most public facilities, the line for the men’s shower after the race was about a 5 minute wait versus the 45 minute wait in the women’s line. As Joey headed into the stalls, I realized that we neglected to take an after shot. So, here is our ‘joey after the shower, and me still waiting” shot.

You can check out one shot of us in action at the following link. http://www.brightroom.com/stf.asp?EVENTID=63650&PWD=&ID=84398572

My final thoughts:

-So much fun and everyone needs to do this at least once. Put it on your bucket list. If at this point you’re saying, “that’s not my kind of thing” …just think of me and embrace your inner mud-loving self. It will be the most entertaining 4 miles of your life!

-I’m in better shape than I give myself credit. Turns out pushing the boys around campus has been beneficial for all!

boys will be boys...

So our blog needs a new entry. We have a bunch of pictures to download from our cameras and a lot to blog about, but right now we just need a new post. So here's a quick note about our boys.

Along with growling when he sees pictures of dinos, bears or lions and his love for any type of ball that he can throw or kick... *L loves cars. He and his brother are establishing quite the little Hot Wheels garage, befitting of their zip code: Bugatti Veyron, Lamborghini Murcielago, Ferrari F540, Ford Mustang GT, Barracuda, Land Rover, Fire Truck, and others. (Still no Aston Martin or Rolls Royce, but we'll find 'em.) Here is a clip of *L driving his cars in his high chair.

*j likes his electronics, much like his dad. Recently *j was recruited to accompany me on a "special mission" to long sought after iPhone. No more getting frustrated when he grabs his dads 4 year old Razor and trys rubbing his finger over the screen to scroll through the apps. Now he can be found playing the guitar, typing notes, deleting his dad's emails, popping bubble wrap, caring for Pedro (our goldfish), jamming to the CBS Sports theme song when he pulls up the March Madness app, playing the drums, reading the scriptures, using a compass to navigate his pirate ship, taking pictures or recording voice memos (for some reason he likes to say "tell Bugatti, when you know" - I'm sure he knows what that means, but I just think it sounds funny). *j is also scary good at navigating his way around pbskids.org and the Playhouse Disney website. Finally, in one of his funniest "boy" moments, while playing in the courtyourd of the dorm complex where we live, *j made his way behind some bushes, dropped his Disney/Pixar underoos and relieved himself! Gotta do what ya gotta do!

This one's for my sister...

So this morning Joey and the boys let me sleep in a little. As I gradually made my way out of bed *L and Joey came in to greet me. *L was laughing and giggling when he saw me so I squatted down to say hi to him. Unfortunately I passed a little gas (or as *j says, "I cut cheese")... and when *L heard it he paused and then giggled. The laughter got me going and I let another one slip... this time, in addition to the giggle he added his own interpretation of the noise that he had just heard. He put his little lips together and ppppphhhhhhhhhhwwwwww... pppppppphhhhhhhhhwwwwww! The three of us had a pretty good laugh together. Lessons learned: (1) little boys have a propensity for sound effects and (2) avoid early morning squats.
